Pushycat.org is a distributed media service that uses peer-to-peer network technology and RSS feed channels to 'push' content to users.

It provides a direct link between artists/producers and online users through a system of media channels provided by trusted media sources.

Users can download the pushycat software that gives them access to this online community of media subscribers and service providers.

How can I use PushyCat?

Follow the instructions below cafefully to install Pushycat on your computer. Click on the threads for step-by-step instructions

  • Register and validate at Pushycat.org

    Registration is free and simple. All you need is a valid email address. You can register here or use the button on the left.

  • Install Azureus
    1. Download the Azureus torrent client version 2.5.0.4 or use the button on the left.
    2. Run the installer on a Windows computer
    3. Agree to the license agreement
    4. Leave all boxes checked to install all components
    5. Choose an install location and run the installer

      !IMPORTANT!
      Pushycat is currently configured to run with Azureus version 2.5.0.4. When you start the program, it will ask you if you want to install the latest version. Click 'Cancel' to ensure that Pushycat is able to install correctly.

    The Azureus client will now be installed on your machine. Click Finish.

  • Download and install the pushycat client into Azureus
    1. Download the Pushycat plugin or use the button on the left
    2. Save the file to your hard drive. Make a note of the location
    3. Open your Azureus Client.
    4. Click on 'Tools->Plugins' on the top tool-bar and click 'Installation Wizard';
    5. Check 'By File' and click 'Next'
    6. Browse to the location where you saved the Pushycat plugin download file. Click 'Next'
    7. Choose whether you want all users of your computer to be able to access the service. Click 'Finish'
    8. Check the details in the installation window. If you're happy, click 'Install'
    9. Azureus will issue a warning that the selected file is not an official Azureus plugin. This is nothing to worry about. Click 'Continue'
  • Restart Azureus and select pushycat client options
    1. Make sure you have restarted the application (File->Restart Azureus) since installing the pushycat plugin
    2. Disable automatic updates in Azureus by clicking 'Tools->Options->Interface->Start', then unchecking 'Check for latest version when Azureus starts', 'Check for latest version periodically', and 'Automatically open the update assistant when an update is available'.
    3. To change the directory where the files we be stored; 'Tools' -> 'Options' then 'Files' and change the 'Default Directory' using the button on the top-right.
    4. Then save the settings using the bottom-left button:

    5. In Azureus bring up the Pushycat plugin screen. In the top menu bar, 'Plugins' -> 'Pushycat Client'
    6. Then select 'Options' and enter the username and password you used to register. Click 'Save Settings'
